We have been watching... Women in Business Networking presents "25 Women to Watch in 2010" You may be asking how these "watchables" are chosen. An incredible amount of research goes into this list, many candidates are considered from all professions, finance, politics, law, the arts, education, science, entrepreneurs, non-profits, community volunteers. Acquaintances, news and networking opportunities from all over the Miami Valley area have helped collect information about our notables; anywhere local news is made. This year the majority of the“25 Women to Watch 2009” have nominated candidates for WiBN’s 2010 watchables. Others were chosen by WiBN’s “Watch Committee” A special thank you to Tina Marker and Debra Ghysels.
WiBN’s watchable women are making a difference in our community, women being noted for their leadership, community service and professional achievements.
The notable list of our candidates are exceptional women, respected in her field, and are causing more than a ripple in the public arena. Some may be on TV, some on the hot seat; they legislate, articulate and congregate.

Leah HawthornAdvanced Business Image & Etiquette Nominated by: Lori Firsdon, 2009 Watchable Leah Hawthorn is a certified business image & etiquette coach and training facilitator for the Protocol School of Washington’s “Train To Be A Business Image Coach.” Leah works to facilitate change in the business arena by improving individual and corporate image and business etiquette skills Leah has taught students throughout the United States and 19 countries. With more than 30 years of experience in the fashion & business image arena, Leah brings a unique view to the importance of business image & business etiquette, how to “Outclass The Competition”, and how it relates to success. She began her career teaching young women how to handle themselves in the social arena and how to chose coloring and the correct wardrobe appropriate for their bodyline and skin coloring, which eventually evolved into teaching runway modeling, photography modeling and directing fashion shows in her local area. When she joined the high end designer company, Elan Inc. she worked with the owner of Glamour modeling to help women create business and fashion wardrobes. Leah is active in her local community, she, serves on Sinclair’s Professional Enrichment Series Committee, is a member of Women in Business Networking serving on the Advisory Board, WiBN Ambassador Team ,and WiBN Entrepreneur Group. She delivers business image & business etiquette seminars for a variety of organizations, businesses, colleges and schools, local and abroad including Defense Acquisition University & The Ritz-Carlton in Washington D.C. She and her husband Jim are the proud parents of a son, two daughters, and three grandchildren.
Tracie Hall Exhibit Concepts Nominated by: Cheryl Bucholtz, 2009 Watchable Tracie Hall has been with Exhibit Concepts for eleven (11) years. During that time, she has managed clients all across the country in trade show design and fabrication and mobile marketing concepts. Her knowledge of the industry and her impeccable ability to manage projects makes her a star in the field and a sought-after asset to a new client. Tracie works closely with Sales Managers to ensure the needs of the client are met and is also responsible for recommending the best design concepts to meet those needs. In her free-time, Tracie enjoys traveling with her husband’s Celtic band to festivals and re-enactments. She resides in Englewood with her husband Shawn and the cutest dog in the world, Piper.
Deborah Fitzwater, Vice President Small Business Banking National City Bank Nominated by: Kim Snow , 2009 Watchable I met Deborah Fitzwater on my first day at National City in 1995. Our relationship, both professional and personal, has climbed many ladders, seen a few slumps and has remained in-tact and stronger as has Deb’s commitment to leadership and community service in Dayton. I am proud to nominate her for “25 Women to Watch in 2010.” Deborah was destined to be a banker. Since 1995, Deb has remained committed to National City and her desire to help and grow businesses within our community. With National City, Deborah started out in the Management Assistant program. She successfully completed the program and was awarded a bank-wide quality award for exceeding customer service expectations. Upon graduation from the program, Deb served as a Branch Manager where she analyzed customer’s financial position for individual lending as well as create an enthusiastic and commitment team environment. After being moved to corporate her experiences ultimately lead her to become Vice President of Small Business Banking. Deb now manages over 250 small business client relationships. Internally, she also coaches three branch managers. Deb has earned a nomination for the Excel award at National City, the most prestigious award granted within the corporation. Deborah received her Bachelors of Business from The University of Cincinnati and her Masters of Business Administration from The University of Dayton. Deborah not only gives to priority to family and her career, she gives to her community. She is a Certified Women’s Business Advocate, an Artemis Gala Steering Committee member, a Women’s Economic Development outreach tour chair and a member of the Business Network International. Judy Elder, Director of Service Center Operations American Red CrossNominated by Patricia Tallman, 2009 Watchable
Judy Elder serves as the Director of Service Center Operations for the American Red Cross Dayton Area Chapter. She manages the day to day operations for the Greene and Preble County Service Centers, located in Xenia and Eaton. She began working with the Red Cross as an Outside Sales Representatives in the Health & Safety Department. Her duties include supervising staff members and volunteers along with fundraising. Judy is a three time winner of the American Red Cross Dayton Area Chapter Employee of the Quarter Award, and 1999 Spirit of Excellence Award in the Management Category. Judy was born and raised in Xenia, graduated from Xenia High School, attended Central State University, and Sinclair College. She and her husband Gordon, have been married for 23 years and their son serves in the United States Navy where he is stationed in Mayport, Florida.
 Nicole Amsler, Owner Keylocke Services Nominated by: Barbara Warner, 2009 Watchable Nicole Amsler has over 15 years of experience in professional writing, marketing and helping small businesses. She has been involved in varied and diverseindustries—from bridal jewelry to anatomical models. Starting as a marketing assistant, she advanced to Director of Marketing before launching her own copywriting and marketing consultant firm, Keylocke Services . Keylocke Services focuses specifically on small and women-owned businesses. With a BA in Communication from Spring Arbor University, Nicole knows professional writing and marketing go hand in hand. Nicole’s professional philosophy is that anything which touches your client is marketing. So she helps her clients make the most of every “touch.” Creative and widely read, Nicole has ghostwritten several articles and books for clients as well as under her own name. An authority on women-owned businesses, she is a unique and timely voice for other small business owners.
 Janette Dywasuk, Director of Marketing Ferguson Construction Company Nominated by: Colleen Ryan, 2009 Watchable Janette Dywasuk serves as the Director of Marketing for Ferguson Construction Company, where she oversees all marketing efforts for the firm. Significant accomplishments at Ferguson Construction include engineering a plan to increase overall visibility and opportunities for the company , creating a new website, and writing and designing project-winning proposals. Janette’s professional career spans 13 years of advertising and marketing experience; including 9 years at an advertising firm in Michigan, 2 years traveling internationally for a global manufacturer and distributor and 2 years with Ferguson Construction Company. While earning her Bachelor’s Degree in English and her teaching certificate from Northern Michigan University, Janette participated in an elite 2 year leadership program and volunteered for the Women’s Center in Marquette, Michigan. Janette is active in the Dayton community and believes that Dayton is headed towards a great future. She is a member of and contributes her time to many groups and organizations in the area such as the Dayton Development Coalition, the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, Linked Dayton, Miami Valley Literacy Council, Greater Dayton Advertising Association, Society for Marketing Professional Services and Dayton Creative Syndicate. In 2009, Janette started her own social networking group online to learn more about social media; it is called Professional Business Women of Southwest Ohio and currently has over 200 members. Janette is a member of the Women in Business Entrepreneur Groups. Personal interests include a recent obsessive dedication to working out at 5am, golf any time the sun shines, and traveling to new and exotic places.
Donna Childs, President Donna Childs Consultants LLC Nominated by: Tina Marker Donna Childs, President of Donna Childs Consultants LLC, has 25 years of executive management and leadership expertise. Coming from a nationally recognized organization, she is known for building, branding and achieving breakthrough results. She has an uncommon ability to see the big picture and understand what needs to happen to get the business performance to the next level.
Donna has extensive experience in strategic planning, leadership, organizational development, customer issues, and change management. She is the retired president and chief executive officer of the Better Business Bureau. She oversaw all aspects of running a progressive business and helping other businesses do business better. As a speaker and facilitator, Childs delivers powerful presentations on leadership and trust, strategic planning, team building, and organizational development. She facilitates strategic planning and multi-day case studies/workshops on crisis management and change on a national level.
Donna has a master’s degree in management from Antioch University McGregor and a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Kentucky. She is a Certified Association Executive from the American Society of Association Executives and has a Certified Project Management certificate from Xavier University. She received the Excellence in Association Leadership honor from the American Society of Association Executives, Silver Medal from Greater Dayton Advertising Association, and Excellence in Overall Communications from the Council of Better Business Bureaus, and received many IABC and PRSA awards over the years. She serves on the board of directors of Dayton Rotary and the Greater Dayton Ad Association, where she oversees many committees. She is a graduate of the Leadership Dayton program where she served as president of the alumni association. She served as president of the Ohio Association of Better Business Bureaus and on the board of directors of United Way and on many of its committees. She is a member of Women in Business Networking serving on the Advisory Board and is a WiBN Entrepreneur Group facilitator.
Beth Gully, Owner BT Graphics Nominated by: Linda Jones Beth Gully began BT Graphics in 1990 and over the past 19 years has garnered the respect of fellow designers, peers, and clients. BT Graphics incorporates brand development with comprehensive objective-driven approach. An award-winning small design firm reaching solid results with less. The company is woman owned and has been WBENC accredited for four years. Recently saluted as a 2008 Growth Company by the Cincinnati USA Partnership for Economic Development.As a graduate of the University of Kentucky, Beth’s strength for design blends with a passion for the thought process. Her innate ability to ask the right questions ensures solid design results.
Beth has always had a desire to help others through volunteerism. She has won several top awards given in Cincinnati and Butler County including the YMCA Woman of the Year, the United Way Otis Brigs Volunteer of the Year, and the Cincinnati Athena Finalist Award.

 Judy Powell Community Volunteer Nominated by: Nora Paul, 2009 Watchable Since retiring as an HR Director, Judy Powell became "redirected" as a volunteer for several organizations. In 2003 she started her volunteer work with the Red Cross in the HR Dept. She serves on the Red Cross HR Committee, is the Recording Secretary and a charter member of the Dayton Chapter’s Ruby Society. She is Vice-President of the Dayton Area Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park (VVMP). In 2003-04, she was instrumental in raising the funds for major improvements and lights at the memorial which illuminate the 401 names of those individuals from the Miami Valley who died in Vietnam. She continues to work for veterans through her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution, Forward Air Controllers Assn. and the VVMP. Judy serves on the Board of Directors of The Dayton Woman’s Club as Ways and Means Chair and in that capacity she works on raising funds to help maintain and preserve the historical house at 225 N. Ludlow. Among other fundraising projects, she is currently working on a major fund raising event in June 2010 partnering with the Dayton YWCA, Friends of the Arcade and the Woman’s Club of Dayton Foundation to recognize and promote historical preservation in Dayton.
 Joy Brush, Owner Miami Valley Mobile Health Services Nominated by: Belinda Kenley Joy Brush has a life-long history of helping others and performing public service, always working her way up from grassroots level to leadership roles in whatever she chooses to do. Joy was born and reared in Dayton as one of nine children, graduating from St. Joseph Commercial High school. Joy attributes her interest in helping handicapped individuals due to the fact that she had a brother who was severely handicapped from a diving accident when he was 21. In 1995, Joy purchased a business called Worldwide Health Services, Inc., and since that time has tripled its service area. The company name is now Miami Valley Mobile Health Services. With just two employees (herself and daughter Jody) and an independent contractor network of 25 medical technicians, her company completes life insurance physicals for more than 750 insurance carriers and 3,000 insurance agents in Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati. Joy is active in her community – as President of the Americana Festival in Centerville, as a board member of Therapeutic Riding Institute (TRI), and as the founding board member of Women Who Care, a non-profit organization. As member of AMBUCS (American Business Clubs), Joy is instrumental in providing special bicycles (called AMTRYKES) for disabled children and adults. She has earned almost every recruiting and leadership award available in AMBUCS and has served as Regional Director over chapters in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Michigan. Joy also has been beneficial in helping in the political arena. She has worked on campaigns for local, statewide, and federal candidates. Thanks to her dedication to helping the handicapped, improving her community, and running a successful business. Joy Brush is certainly a “woman to watch in 2010”!
 Lisa Grigsby, Event Manager Community Volunteer Nominated by: Karen Kelly Brown. 2009 Watchable
Lisa Grigsby is well known in the Miami Valley area. She is a Special Events Manager with over twenty years experience in event coordination and public relations with strong social media skills. Her skills brings to the table the ability to foresee potential glitch areas and develop alternate plans for worst-case scenarios. She is an articulate communicator, skilled in quickly engaging team members and clients, establishing rapport and developing strong relationships.
Lisa is able to maintain a sense of humor under pressure. You can be assured that Lisa can be seen helping in some capacity at the majority of all Miami Valley non-profit events. She serves on the board of Film Dayton and Clothes That Work.
Her past experience includes, Special Events Manager for Culture Works, a catalyst for Dayton CREATE, Executive Director of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association, The Comedy Doc, and owner of the well known comedy club, Jokers.
Brenda Weber, OwnerCobblestone Home Decor Gift Shop and Gourmet Cafe Nominated by: Julie Gaudette, 2009 Watchable Brenda Weber has been the owner of Cobblestone Village Home Decor Gift Shop and Gourmet Café in Waynesville for the past 10 years. If you have visited the Cobblestone you know her talent expounds her experience as a professional interior and floral Designer. Her expertise has attributed to her involvement with Local Homerama Shows, Home and Garden Shows, and various other events related to the home décor business. In addition to her retail business and gourmet café, she does in-home interior design consultation on a full scale or for just one room! Brenda a member of the Dayton Society of Interior Designers, American Society of Interior Designers and Women in Business Networking Entrepreneur Group. Brenda and her husband Rick are the parents of three sons, two in college and one in high school. In her busy life with a business and family Brenda finds the time to volunteer in her church and community. She is a Mentor for MOMS and has worked in the Volunteer Art Programs in her children’s schools.
Peggy B. Lehner, State RepresentativeReporter 37th House District Nominated by: Amy Schrimpf, 2009 Watchable State Representative Peggy B. Lehner is currently serving her first term as the representative for the 37th House District, which includes portions of Montgomery County. Prior to serving in the Ohio House, Representative Lehner served briefly in the Ohio Senate in the 6th Senate District. She comes to the Ohio House after serving three terms as a member of the Kettering City Council from 1998 to 2008. During this time she was chosen as vice mayor and appointed to the Kettering Development Corporation. While she was on City Council, she was the founder and chairwoman of the First Suburbs Consortium of Dayton, a coalition of suburbs organized to seek solutions for challenges facing First Tier communities in the Dayton area. Representative Lehner also is the founder of C.O.A.S.T., an organization created to develop county-wide senior transportation options. Keeping active with her community, Representative Lehner has been a member of the National League of Cities, Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority, Senior Resource Connection and Montgomery County Republican Party. She was also an appointee of the governor to the Ohio Ethics Commission, twice serving as chair of the commission. In 2001 the Senior Resource Connection recognized Representative Lehner for Outstanding Service to the Senior Community by an Elected Official. Representative Lehner attended both American College in Paris and St. Mary’s of the Woods College where she obtained a degree in history. She has a strong interest in the areas of health care, aging, Medicaid and local government. She and her husband James reside in Kettering and have five grown children and ten grandchildren
 Karen Rubenstein, Co-Founder & Principal Jog Marketing Nominated by: Carm Crawford Karen Rubenstein is a co-founder and principal of Jog Marketing, a woman-owned business created in 2004. Jog Marketing is a full-service promotional products company that provides marketing and branding solutions for a broad spectrum of corporate clients. Prior to joining Jog Marketing, Karen spent several years as a National Account Executive for Target Corporation, where she both developed and sold recognition and incentive programs, achieving top sales producer status. Karen was instrumental in launching Target’s business-to-business growth strategy. Karen has also amassed more than a decade of experience in staffing, human resources, project management, and marketing with Manpower, Inc. While at Manpower, Karen completed a major project for Ford Credit that included setting up call centers throughout North America. Karen is a graduate of Ohio State University and currently resides in Dayton, Ohio. In 2006, Karen was inducted in the “100 Wise Women” of Cincinnati, a program developed to increase the base of qualified, connected women in the area. She currently serves on the business advisory committee for CancerFree Kids, and has held leadership positions with two other non-profit organizations, having served on the business advisory board for the Courage Centers in Minneapolis and as marketing co-chair for Noble of Indiana (both providing services for people with disabilities). Karen worked actively with her son’s schools and has served in Minnesota as PTA treasurer and as a liaison in the schools’ Parent Communication Network. Along with her son, Karen was the founder of a Teen Golf Outing-Sabine’s Cup-donating over $40,000 in three years to CancerFree Kids.
Karen Townsend, Ph.D., President and CEO Advanced Management Solutions Nominated by: WiBN Watch Committee Karen M.R. Townsend, Ph.D. is president and CEO of Advanced Management Solutions—an Ohio-based training and consulting firm. Karen began her career in higher education and now partners with major corporations, government agencies, non-profit organizations and educational institutions to offer her expertise in the areas of leadership development, 21st Century diversity issues, and personal excellence. She has a special interest in programming for women, recently launched a new website (www.aboutmysisters.com) which is dedicated to the growth, development, and personal empowerment of women and girls. Through seminars, workshops, conferences and retreats, Karen’s goal is to empower a new generation of women and girls and assist them in reaching their maximum potential. Some exciting things happening for Karen in 2010. She recently accepted a position at Central State University as Director of Faculty Development. Her new position will afford her the opportunity to utilize her organizational development expertise to benefit those in academia. Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Corporex Nominated by: Ria Davidson, 2009 Watchable Debbie Vicchiarelli, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Corporex, personifies the 2010 Women to watch. In an industry not known for change, Debbie revolutionized the way developers market residential buildings. Her marketing expertise repositioned the Five Seasons Country Club as a Sports Club – resulting in a 16% increase in membership in a year compared to the industry average of 4%. The effort included a television ad that won an Emmy for its ability to communicate the branding change. Debbie utilized her marketing leadership at Cincinnati Bell excelling in multiple projects. Another noteworthy marketing project was her involvement at Star-Kist. She was the marketing team leader who moved their tuna product from cans to pouches. Debbie has a unique ability to identify real consumer needs and gaps, and then can lead teams to create products and services that fulfill them. The launches of all the aforementioned marketing efforts included exceptionally well integrated advertising and public relations plans designed to create preference for her brands and drive consumers to take action. Debbie Vicchiarelli serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Corporex. She oversees all marketing and public relations. She brings to Corporex over 22 years of progressive marketing and management experience. Debbie most recently served as Vice President of Marketing for the foods division of Sara Lee. She has also held executive marketing roles with Cincinnati Bell, Heinz Co., and Procter & Gamble. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Journalism.
 Jodee Ball, Owner JP Ball Photography Nominated by: Debra Ghysels, 2009 Watchable
Jodee Ball started her own photography studio after over 19 years of teaching in both the Waynesville elementary schools and the Kettering schools. Jodee’s passion and patience with children and the special gift they are to each of us has been the focus of her career. Jodee says it best:" It's a dream realized. I can distinctly remember wanting to be a photographer during my growing up years. Life took me in a different direction and teaching called me. I have taught elementary school since 1997. I love working with children and families! And I have a passion for photography. The two just seemed to mesh!” The itch to start her own business was too intense to ignore so after a year and a half of hard work, JP Ball Photography was born! Her husband, Phil, is the “P” in the equation – her supporter, financial guru, handyman, and professional opinion giver! She an d her husband are the proud parents of 3 children, Ally, Carson ,and Kendra who seem to be their ultimate inspiration in life! Because of her success, Jodee has helped several other women in starting their own business by developing their logo, websites, and doing gallery shots of their business. Jodee likes the positive effect one can have in helping other women follow their dream of establishing their own business!
 Cheryl Malone, Regional Director of Market Development Indiana Wesleyan University Nominated by: WiBN Watch Committee Cheryl Malone is the Regional Director of Market Development for the Adult Education Services department at Indiana Wesleyan University She is responsible for marketing IWU's on-site and on-line programs in new community markets and with associations. Cheryl has vast leadership and human resource experience as a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force. She served at a variety of stateside and overseas bases as well as the Pentagon. She has her Masters in Counseling
Cheryl claims Southport, North Carolina as her home town She has received numerous awards such as Meritorious and Commendation Medals, several leadership awards and was selected "Best Mission Support Squadron Commander 2 consecutive years. She considers her best job in the Air Force as being a Squadron Commander Cheryl is active in her church and community. She is a member of Women in Business Networking and is presently developing the Mentor Program for Women in Business Networking. She is married to Victor Malone and they have two children, Meghan and Sean. After retiring (redirecting) from the Air Force in 2006, she has made Centerville, Ohio her home.
Karyn Gavzer, President and CEO K & G Marketing & Training Nominated by: WiBN Watch Commitee Karyn Gavzer is a practice management consultant specializing in marketing, training and customized solutions. She says her job is to help practices “go and grow” with new ideas and practical plans. She has worked with industry, associations, and veterinary practices for over 18 years. She is best known, however, as the former director of marketing for the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) where she created public campaigns with industry, such as “Pets Need Dentistry, Too” and training programs to help veterinarians and their staffs market their services more effectively. Karyn has an MBA and she is one of less than 200 certified veterinary hospital managers (CVPM) in North America. She is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), an AAHA adjunct faculty member and one of the founders of VetPartners (formerly the Association of Veterinary Practice Management Consultants and Advisors). Karyn is particularly well known for helping practices with strategic planning and with implementing improvements from the AAHA compliance study. She is a sought-after consultant, speaker and writer on these and other management and marketing issues. Above all else, Karyn says she is a pet lover and one of the people that walk through the front door of your office every day. She makes a point of sharing that perspective in all of her work. Karyn lives in Springboro, Ohio.
Maha Kashani, Sr. Account Manager, Cincinnati Bell Nominated by: WiBN Watch Committee Maha Kashani is the Sr. Account Manager at Cincinnati Bell. In her position Maha provides telecommunication & technology solutions to help Dayton area organizations increase efficiencies, boost productivity and cost effectively meet growing infrastructure demands. Maha is known among her peers as one of the brightest, most outgoing professionals in the Miami Valley area. She takes on many different leadership roles and has a very active interest in helping to transform the Dayton region. Her energy is contagious. Past experience include Account Executive with Gram Tel—A Cincinnati Bell Company and Special Events Director for Business Resumption Planners Association. Organizations where Maha volunteers include, the Employer Relations Chair for Generation Dayton, Executive Associate Board Member for the Dayton Ballet, the Chair of the "Emerging Executives" at the Dayton Racquet Club, she serves on the Class of 05 Reunion Committee at University of Dayton, and a member of the Centerville Noon Optimist, Maha serves on the Development Committee at Dayton Children's Medical Center and an Advocate for SPARK Dayton. Christine Quijote-Oakes, Owner QC CPA Group LLC Nominated by: WiBN Watch Committee Christine Quijote-Oakes graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a major in Accounting and Finance. After years of working in public accounting, she sensed a need to address accounting demands of small-to-medium sized entities (SME). She found most SME business owners and decision makers lack the time to focus on non-core business functions like accounting, nor do they have vast resources to hire a team of accounting professionals. Yet, their organizations are in a critical growth stage and need accurate financial information to make informed business decisions. Prior to establishing QCG, she was an audit manager for a Denver-based CPA firm. She worked on over 40 clients; majority of which are publicly-traded entities; and seven are based in Europe, Asia, and Canada. She led multiple global audit engagement teams and was involved in successful capital-raising activities. Christine is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA) and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. She serves on the OSCPA Accounting and Auditing Committee and the Dayton Chamber of Commerce Finance Committee. She is also widely involved in many non-profit fundraising efforts in the Dayton area, a member of Women in Business Networking, serving on the Business Advisory Board. She is a licensed CPA in Ohio, New Mexico, and Colorado.
Joanie Spain, Director of Public Relations & Career Services School of Advertising Art Nominated by: WiBN Watch Committee Joanie Spain enjoyed a rewarding career as a dental hygienist before returning to school for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities from Antioch University, McGregor. After a stint in non-profit fundraising, she joined the staff at the School of Advertising Art [saa] as an admissions representative. In 2005, Joanie was promoted to Director of Public Relations and Career Services at saa. Joanie enjoys working with young people in a creative environment. She specializes in results-driven networking to raise awareness about saa and facilitate successful job placements for alums. She coaches students and alums in effective job search strategies and interview skills. Other specialties include: relationship building, project management, public speaking, Board & committee service, information management, event planning, writing, and training. Joanie is a lifelong resident of SW Ohio. She lives with her husband John [and their Bluetick Coonhound, Scout] in the Huffman Historic Area near downtown Dayton. John is a Certified Flight Instructor at the Wright-Patt Aero Club, and Joanie is his favorite student. She is post-solo in the Private Pilot curriculum.  Mary Bajus RN, Psychotherapist Adjunct Faculty Sinclair Community College Nominated by: WiBN Watch Committee Mary Bajus is a Registered Nurse, Psychotherapist, and serves on the Adjunct Faculty at Sinclair Community College. She has specialized in providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families for 35 years. She is a Certified Gestalt Therapist and a Certified Marriage and Family Therapist. She is a member of the Ohio Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association. Mary has provided supervision to Mental Health students from Sinclair Community College. Wright State University and the Miami Valley hospital. She has been a mentor ,a consultant to several local businesses and has taught Mental Health Technology students Group Dynamics for 18 years at Sinclair Community College.
Mary's passion for empowering women grows out of her wisdom acquired from her rich personal and professional experiences. Mary facilitates the development of self awareness, personal power and boundary setting in a safe and fun environment. Women are given information, suport and feedback as they practice these new behaviors. Through the develpment of these skills stong women are born. Mary is enlivened by the privilege of accompanying other women on their journey. Mary is a member of Women in Business Networking serving on the Ambassador Team and a WiBN Winstitute Workshop Leader. Mary enjoys sharing her delightful sense of humor and spiritual musings with friends and family. She is the mother of Laura and her new son-in-law, Chris. She is a resident of Kettering.
 Shanon Potts, Assistant City Attorney City of Dayton Nominated by: WiBN Watch Committee
Shanon Potts is an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Dayton, Ohio, admitted to practice in Ohio in 2005. Her practice areas of focus are municipal litigation, claims defense and liquor law. Shanon graduated from Otterbein College, Magna Cum Laude, where she studied Communication, Business, and Political Science. She attended Capital University Law School, where she competed as a member of the Philip J. Fulton National Moot Court Team and served as a staff member of the Capital University Law Review . She graduated from law school, Cum Laude, in 2005. Shanon is a 2009 recipient of the Dayton Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award, a 2008 graduate of the City of Dayton’s Neighborhood Leadership Institute, and a 2008 Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce-Volunteer of the Quarter. She is the 2010 Chair of Generation Dayton, an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, and a member of the Dayton, Ohio and American Bar Associations. Shanon owns a home in downtown Dayton with her husband, Troy.
Ruth Ann Pinnick, LMT, Owner & Operator Comprehensive Massage Care Nominated by: WiBN Watch Committee
Ruth Ann Pinnick is the owner of Comprehensive Massage Care, a holistic medical massage practice located in Bellbrook. The practice is located within the Sugarcreek Chiropractic Building. She opened the business in 2006 with a friend, but since has become the sole owner and has added two massage therapists to the growing practice.
Comprehensive Massage Care provides a unique and individualized massage for every person. Ruth Ann believes the personal care and attention to detail within each person is what allows her practice to be more than a place for a nice massage, but a place of wholeness and restoration. To give back to women in her community, her practice provides free massages to women in need at local hospitals. Ruth Ann believes that too often massage becomes a luxury for those who can afford it, but she feels her practice needs to be there for those who a special need. They invite their clients to join in with them in providing massage hours for women in need.
Ruth Ann volunteers for her daughter's school as a "Class Mom" and within Red Door Church as a Family Dinner Coordinator. She is a teacher for the Dayton School of Medical Massage on a regular basis as adjunct teacher for infant massage. Infant massage is a passion of Ruth Ann’s and something she has had quite a bit of experience with after having three children of her own!
Ruth Ann and her husband Andy are proud parents of Emma, Charlie, and Henry whom are the greatest privilege of her life. She attributes the dedication of her husband of eight years as a dad and a husband that allows her dreams of owning a business be a reality.
